Can I Make Changes to My Benefits Throughout the Year?

Answer
Generally, no.
IRS Guidelines do not permit you to make changes to your coverage unless you experience a mid-year Qualifying Event. An event recognized by the IRS that allows you to make a mid-year change to your benefit elections. Such events MUST be reported with Proper Documentation to your Benefits Administrator within 30 days of the event.
Examples include:
- Birth of a child
- Marriage
- Divorce
- Loss or Gain of other coverage
- Court orders to provide coverage
